ADMISSION POLICIES & PROCEDURES

 

Acceptance Criteria

Jericho Project serves those seeking recovery who meet the following criteria:

 

1.      Male

2.      18 Years or over.

3.      Primary problem/diagnosis of alcohol and/or drug abuse.

4.      Willingness to accept the rules and structure of the program.

 

 

 

Requirements

We ask that you read the following requirements and determine for yourself if you are capable of fulfilling them:

 

1.      Make a commitment to abstain from using any mood altering chemicals.

2.      Be willing to develop a plan of recovery and take action with it.

3.      Be willing to accept personal responsibility.

4.      Make a commitment of honesty with all staff and community members.

5.      Be willing to participate in general housekeeping responsibilities.

6.      Be willing to abide by the rules and regulations of the program.

Intake Procedure

 

1. Abstinence

Persons seeking admission to Jericho Project must have been abstinent from all mood-altering chemicals for the 72 (seventy-two) hours prior to admission. Jericho Project recommends that those under the influence if mood-altering chemicals admit themselves to a licensed detoxification facility. Referrals are available upon request. This abstinence requirement will be verified by urine analysis.

 

2. Interview

Prospective candidate must be motivated for recovery and willing to abide by the program rules.

 


3. Heath Screening

Every applicant must complete a health questionnaire and answer staff questions regarding information given. If staff determines that any health problems exist which precludes participation in Jericho Project, the applicant will be referred to an appropriate facility. Any applicant with a serious medical or dental problem will receive prompt referral for appropriate medical care. Staff will ensure that this is completed, if the applicant becomes a member of Jericho Project.

TB screening under licensed medical supervision must be completed 6 months prior to or within 30 days of admission to Jericho Project and annually thereafter.

 

4. Finances

Prospective client must have entry fees available upon acceptance unless other arrangements have been made with the Executive Director or Program Director.

 

5. Admission Agreement

Once accepted, prospective client must sign the Jericho Project admission agreement.

 

6.  Mail Policy

All client mail should be sent to P.O. Box 2367 Brisbane, CA 94005. Jericho Project reserves the right to inspect all incoming mail for contraband and material deemed inappropriate. Mail will be delivered to clients only after inspection.

 

7.  Smoking Policy

Jericho Project is a Non-Smoking facility.

 

8.  Probation/Parole

Jericho Project admits clients on probation and parole, provided the client provides written consent for the exchange of information between Jericho Project and the Departments of probation and/or parole by signing Jericho Project?s Consent for the Release of Confidential Information form.

 

9.  Confidentiality

All records and information with respect to resident?s housing and treatment at Jericho Project are protected under the federal regulations governing Confidentiality of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Patient Records, 42CFR part 2, and cannot be disclosed without the resident?s written consent unless otherwise provided for in the regulations. The resident may revoke such consent at any time except to the extent that action has been taken in reliance on it.

 

10.  Re-admission Policy

Clients seeking re-admission to Jericho Project will be re-interviewed and subjected to the same intake criteria as other prospective clients. Re-admission for the third time or more will be considered only after at least 30 days absence from the program.

 

 

11.  Non-discrimination Policy

Jericho Project is open to all men who are 18 years of age or more. Jericho Project will not refuse service nor discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, mental or physical disability, marital status, or sexual preference; pursuant to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Section 2000d, Title 42, United States Code); the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 (Section 12132, Title 42, United States Code); Section 11135 of California Government Code; and for recipients of financial assistance, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 794, Title 29, United States Code), and Chapter 6 (commencing with Section 10800) Division 4, Title 9 of the California Code of Regulations.

 

12. Visitation

Visitation allowed in case of family emergency only.

 

13.  Participation Policy

Jericho Project?s training program requires participation in self-help activities that will assist you in your development. These activities include educational classes, house meetings, and recreational activities. During your commitment to Jericho Project it is each member?s responsibility to attend these self-help activities and community meetings on a regularly scheduled basis.

 

14.  Physical Activities Policy

Jericho Project?s training program requires participation in physical activities. Clients should not over exert themselves, and only participate at a level that they feel comfortable with. Any physical limitations should be discussed with staff prior to any physical activities. Any discomfort or injury sustained during any physical activities must be reported to staff immediately.

 

15. Disciplinary Policy

Educational assignments are given to a client to help them better understand their behaviors.

Extra duty contracts are given to a client to help him improve his understanding of his responsibilities.

Bench contract is offered to a client as a way to demonstrate his willingness and desire to remain in the program. This disciplinary action is usually used as a last attempt to motivate the client.
